Easy to miss gems in Spyro 2
Easy-to-Miss Gems in Spyro 2
One of the most useful additions in Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage! is Sparx’s Gem Finder, which makes tracking down missing treasure much easier. However, if Sparx points towards Gems that seem impossible to reach, they may be in an area that requires one of Moneybags’ abilities, such as Swimming, Climbing or Headbash.
If you’re still missing Gems after completing a level, these are some places worth checking.
Summer Forest
Colossus
If you’re missing a group of Gems along with one of the statues from the Evil Spirit Search Orb Challenge, use the Spring Power-up to reach the roof near the Return Home portal. Follow the snowy path and enter the ice cave to find the missing treasure.
Idol Springs
At the beginning of the level, dive into the lake and look for the tunnel at the bottom. To the right of this tunnel are two easily overlooked Purple Gems. This is also the route leading to Foreman Bud’s first puzzle.
Sunny Beach
There are two Gems that are particularly easy to overlook in the third area. Stand in the doorway between the second and third sections and look to the right for a Purple Gem. Then find the nearby button and look to the left to spot a Green Gem tucked away in the corner.
Aquaria Towers
Once the level has been completely flooded, enter the second room and look for the tall metal structure on the left. Two Purple Gems are sitting on the arches connecting the top of the structure to the wall.
If you’re working towards the Skill Point and are missing one Frond, check the left-hand side of the area at the end of the tunnel connecting the first and second rooms.
Autumn Plains
Crystal Glacier
Check around the huts near Moneybags. A couple of Gems are tucked away behind them, close to the edge of the cliff.
If you’re missing 35 Gems, check the final building where Chief Shaman Tuk is found. Three baskets are inside, but you’ll first need to thaw the three cavemen outside to gain access.
Breeze Harbor
Near the end of the level, you’ll find the catapult area. Go past the catapult and check along the right-hand side. A basket containing a Gold Gem is easy to overlook here.
Zephyr
Near the beginning of the level, use the first cannon to destroy the Balloon Vase. Once it has been hit, check the ravine where it landed. A Purple Gem can be found down there.
Fracture Hills
The Sealed Chest in the small cave in the lower part of the level requires a Supercharge.
One method is to follow the Supercharge course until you come out of the second tunnel. You can then jump from the second turn of the rocky bridge and make a sharp left towards the island in the lava before continuing towards the chest.
Alternatively, jump from the first turn onto the grassy section of the main route and gradually circle around to the chest.
There’s also a more direct route: immediately after activating the Supercharge Power-up, turn left, pass the Earthshaper and jump over the ledge. This takes you directly towards the Sealed Chest room.
Scorch
If you’re missing a large number of Gems, head towards the bridge between the third and fourth areas. On the left side of the bridge are steps leading to a path alongside the green moat.
Follow this route and use the Whirlwind at the end to reach the upper area. You’ll find plenty of Gems, baskets and Explosive Vases waiting there.
Magma Cone
Early in the level, climb the second ladder on the side of the cone. Look down towards the lava river surrounding its base. Three Purple Gems are sitting on the walkway beside the lava.
Near this same ladder, climb up to the ledge where Zoe is located. Go left and glide across to the raised grassy area. Once you land, turn around to find a Green Gem and Purple Gem behind you.
Winter Tundra
Winter Tundra Home
If you’re missing exactly seven Gems, check behind the door leading to Ripto’s Arena. You’ll need 40 Orbs to open it.
Mystic Marsh
If you’re missing ten Gems, look above the area where Basil the Explorer is standing. There’s a Balloon Vase up there.
Use the nearby Spring Power-up to reach it and flame the balloon. The vase will fall to the ground, allowing you to collect its Gems.
Cloud Temples
Early in the level, enter the first building and cross the walkway on the left. In the next room, cross to the opposite side through the archway and look to the right. You’ll find four vases containing Purple Gems, along with a Green Gem on the ground.
There’s also a tricky Sealed Chest near Agent Zero. You’ll need to defeat enough enemies to activate the Superfreeze Power-up near Murgen the Wizard.
Complete Murgen’s Orb Challenge, then use the Superfreeze Power-up and take the Whirlwind behind him back to the roof. Enter the bell tower and look for a ledge on the left side of the archway.
Glide across to the ledge and wait for the Superfreeze effect to wear off. Flame the nearby rocket and it will destroy the Sealed Chest, revealing two Red Gems, one Purple Gem and one Pink Gem.
